Covering an area of 2,727 sq. km, Belait is the largest of the
district. Brunei Darussalam's major industries namely oil and gas are
located in this district i.e Seria and Lumut respectively.
There are eight Mukims in the district with a total population of
around 70,000 people most of whom live in Kuala Belait, the main town
and Seria. The mukims are: Kuala Belait, Seria, Sg Liang, Bukit Sawat,
Labi, Sukang, Kala Balai and Melilas.
